Sarah Nekesa
Sarah Nekesa is a Class 8 pupil at Bridge, Gicagi. She joined back in 2018, after moving from Siaya, Kakamega County to Nairobi. She came across Bridge when she was looking for a school that would help her improve her grades. “Bridge teachers teach very well and they get all the pupils’ attention,” she says.
Sarah is impressed with the feeling of community that Bridge has created: “I like them [teachers] because we’re like a family in that, despite helping you in school work, they go out of their way to know and interact with your family.”
Over time, Sarah has noticed a tremendous improvement in her performance since joining Bridge. With the end of primary school exams— the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education or KCPE—around the corner, she’s excited to sit her exam.
“I’ve been revising very hard at home over the holidays because I’m determined to make my parents proud,” beams Sarah. When she’s older, she’d like to be an electrical engineer to help fixing things. “After my KCPE, I would like to go to St. Cecilia Nangina Girls in Busia County because it’s a very disciplined school,” she concludes.
