In a small home in Kware, Nairobi County, we meet Chrispo Osieko, a young boy whose dreams have always been bigger than his circumstances. At 17, he has already made his mark in the academic world with an outstanding A- (80 points) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams from Alliance Boys High School. But the road to this success was not an easy one.
Chrispo’s story began at Bridge International Academies, where he first attended Bridge Academy in Tasia. The school was part of the Bridge International Academies Foundation, which uses a unique and effective teaching method that makes learning engaging, personalized, and effective. It was here that Crispo first began to realize his potential.
With the closure of many schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chrispo later moved to Bridge Njenga, another Bridge Academy, where he continued his studies and excelled academically.
Bridge’s educational model and standards gave Crispo the tools he needed to flourish, regardless of the financial difficulties his family faced. His mother, Gladys Kemunto Atei, was a vegetable seller who worked tirelessly to provide for the family. While his father, George Morara Oseko, had yet to secure a formal job, this added a heavy financial burden to the already struggling family.
During his academic journey, Chrispo had a constant worry about how he would get the resources he needed for his studies. Sometimes even the basic and common necessities like food and shelter were often hard to come by. However, his commitment to education remained the same and never fluctuated regardless of these problems. It was through hard work, asking questions, and staying after school for teacher consultations that helped him achieve this remarkable success.
Now, his future hinges on the support of well-wishers who can help his family cover the outstanding fee balance at Alliance Boys High School. His dream career is to pursue a degree in engineering, either at the University of Nairobi or abroad. Chrispo’s story is one of the many examples of how education can transform lives. Bridge International Academies played a major role in his academic journey by providing him with the foundation he needed to succeed.
Chrispo’s journey is far from being written off. With the community’s support, this bright young man can take the next steps toward his dreams.
