Teacher Spotlight: Winfred Nyamai
15 Years of Teaching, Supporting and Inspiring Learners
For Winfred, teaching has been more than a career. It has been a journey of growth, purpose and connection with learners.
Having worked with Bridge for 15 years, Winfred says becoming a teacher was one of the best decisions she has made. Her daily interaction with children continues to keep her passionate about teaching and supporting learners.
She says teaching has also shaped her into the person she is today, helping her become more courageous and confident.
Using the Right Tools to Support Learning
At Bridge, Winfred says technology, the teacher computer and tablet, together with the direct instruction approach, have supported her in delivering lessons and helping learners understand concepts well.
For her, these tools are valuable because they support what happens at the heart of learning: the interaction between a teacher and their learners.
Seeing Learners Succeed
One of the greatest rewards of teaching for Winfred is seeing her learners excel and go on to become successful in life.
“Seeing my learners excelling and becoming successful in life gives me more reason to keep going and help them achieve their dreams.”
Winfred believes teachers should be role models to their learners and should be willing to support them when they face challenges. She also believes that building friendly relationships with learners helps them trust their teachers and feel more comfortable seeking support.
“Being friendly to learners increases their trust in the teacher.”
A Journey That Continues
After 15 years of teaching, Winfred remains motivated by the opportunity to help learners grow, overcome challenges and work towards their dreams.
Her story is a reminder that teachers make learning happen through the knowledge they share, the relationships they build and the belief they place in every learner.
As we reflect on World Teachers’ Day, we recognise Winfred and the teachers who continue to show up, support their learners and help them believe in what they can achieve.
Happy Teachers’ Day, Winfred, and thank you for 15 years of teaching and inspiring learners.
