Bridge Learners Take the Lead on Digital Safety at Safer Internet Day 2026

February 11, 2026 Bridge Kenya Team Education

On 10th February 2026, our learners from Bridge Academy Rongai participated in the Safer Internet Day 2026 Children’s Townhall, organised by Mtoto News International in partnership with key stakeholders, including the Communications Authority of Kenya and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

The Townhall, designed as a child-led platform, brought together learners from across Nairobi to engage directly with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders on the safe, ethical, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. This forum provided an opportunity for children to articulate their experiences online, raise concerns regarding digital safety and privacy, and propose actionable recommendations for creating safer digital environments.

Our learners actively participated in open mic sessions and intergenerational dialogue panels, demonstrating critical thinking, digital literacy, and confidence in discussing complex issues. Their contributions highlighted the importance of listening to children as key stakeholders in shaping policies and practices that directly impact their online experiences.

Participation in the Townhall reinforced our commitment to fostering digital citizenship, responsible technology use, and child empowerment. By engaging in this event, our learners expanded their understanding of online safety and AI ethics and contributed meaningfully to discussions influencing digital governance and child protection frameworks in Kenya.

At Bridge, we continue to prioritise initiatives that equip our learners with the knowledge, skills, and voice to navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly, while advocating for a safer, inclusive, and child-centered digital future.
