Golf for a Brighter Future Tees Off Support for Children’s Education in Nairobi

More than 100 golfers took to the course at the Kenya Railway Golf Club in Nairobi on Friday, 21 August, as we hosted our Golf for a Brighter Future Charity Tournament, bringing together corporate partners, business leaders and philanthropists in support of children across Kenya’s underserved communities.

The tournament was held as part of our #NoChildLeftBehind initiative, which reflects our commitment to ensuring that children have access to quality education and the support they need to learn, grow and thrive.

For us, supporting a child’s education goes beyond providing access to a classroom. Proper nutrition, essential learning resources and a supportive environment are also important in helping children participate fully in their education and reach their potential. We currently serve more than 22,000 learners across 30 counties in Kenya, while initiatives such as school fee subsidies and the provision of learning materials help address some of the barriers children face.

Speaking at the tournament’s awarding ceremony, Reuben Mwangi, Group Managing Director, Bridge International Academies Foundation, highlighted the importance of collective action in advancing opportunities for children.

“Golf for a Brighter Future is about much more than a day on the golf course. It is about coming together around something that matters deeply to all of us, the future of our children. Achieving quality education for every child requires partnerships, investment and a collective commitment from different sectors of society. Today’s turnout demonstrates the power of that collaboration, and our commitment remains firmly focused on ensuring more children have the opportunity to learn, thrive and build a better future.”

The tournament also gave us an opportunity to strengthen relationships with organisations and individuals who share our commitment to advancing education and improving outcomes for children.

Sanlam Allianz was the corporate partner for the tournament, joining other partners, sponsors and philanthropists in supporting the initiative. Their involvement demonstrates the value of collaboration in addressing challenges that affect children and their ability to access and benefit from education.

The tournament also highlighted our #OneCupOneFuture initiative, which focuses on school nutrition as an important part of children’s learning and development. By supporting children’s nutritional needs alongside their education, we are working to create conditions that enable learners to participate actively in school and make the most of their education.

The success of Golf for a Brighter Future demonstrated what can be achieved when different stakeholders come together around a shared purpose. While the tournament took place over one day, the commitment behind it extends much further.
